Hübnerite is manganese tungstate with the formula MnWO₄. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system and belongs to the Wolframite Group.

Colors include yellow-brown, reddish brown, blackish brown, black, and rarely red. Hübnerite has a Mohs hardness of about 4 to 4.5 and a very high specific gravity around 7.12 to 7.18.

It forms a solid-solution series with iron-rich Ferberite. Hübnerite occurs in high-temperature hydrothermal veins, greisens, pegmatites, and some placer deposits and is an important tungsten-bearing mineral.
