Ocean Jasper is a commercial name used for distinctive orbicular and spherulitic chalcedony from Madagascar. Although the word jasper appears in its trade name, Ocean Jasper is not a separate mineral species. Its circles, bands, color zones, and flower-like patterns come from the way silica-rich material formed and changed within the host rock.
